Weeks of February 16-29 and 23-27
1. Introduction to the novel as a genre, John Steinbeck and Of Mice and Men.
2. Listening passage on Steinbeck's life; take notes on passage and discuss. ASSIGNMENT:
Use listening notes to write a 3-4 paragraph biographical summary of Steinbeck's life and works.
2. Read and discuss chapters 1 and 2.
3. Quiz on Steinbeck's life
3a.Quiz on Chapter 1.
4. Journal #22 (If your life was over in a matter of seconds, as those on Flight 3407, would you be proud of what you had accomplished in your life? Explain.) and #23 (Describe some of your first impressions of the novel Of Mice and Men.)
5. Disability worksheet due
6. Complete chapters 1 and 2 review questions.
7. Notes on the novel as a genre, setting of the novel, Ranch Life and the Great Depression.
8. Characterization activity for chapters 1-2 (worksheet with response).
9. Look up definitions for Of Mice and Men List #1 vocabulary words.
10. Celebrate and honor black history month!
